Maria Sleahtitchi has become the new member of the Supervisory and Development Council of the Teleradio-Moldova public broadcaster. She was appointed as a candidate by the Parliament at the meeting held on November 9, with the vote of 54 deputies.
Maria Sleahtitchi is a university lecturer and a writer. She has been the director of the National Museum of Romanian Literature since 2019.
The post of a member of the TRM Supervisory and Development Council remained vacant after Cristian Jardan’s resignation. Two persons filed their dossiers to the competition announced in mid-September. Maria Sleahtitchi complied with all the provisions and was admitted to the interview test, according to the Parliament.
The eligibility provisions for the candidates for the post of the SDC member included at least five years of experience in such spheres as journalism, media, culture, cinematography, law, public relations, international relations, financial and business management, information technology and communications, engineering, or academic activity. The candidates were also supposed to have an impeccable professional reputation, not to be banned from holding public posts or official positions, and not to be politically affiliated persons or party members.
The SDC consists of seven members, three of whom are appointed by parliamentary factions, and four are appointed by civil society organizations. They are designated by the Parliament for a single term of activity lasting for six years.
The SDC’s new composition was approved by the Parliament on November 25, 2021.
