The Press Council announces the registration of participants for the 10th edition of the Media Forum in the Republic of Moldova, which will take place on December 8 and 9, 2025, in Chisinau. Registration takes place on the website www.MediaForum.md and will continue until November 30, 2025.
The Media Forum is convened annually to discuss the main challenges facing the Moldovan journalistic community, identify and promote solutions to strengthen editorial independence, economic sustainability, and improve the quality of the media. Journalists, editors, media managers, other editorial staff from Moldova, representatives of media organizations and associations, and academics involved in journalism training can register for the Forum.
Mandatory pre-registration takes place on the official website of the Forum[1] and will be open until November 30, 2025 inclusive. Those wishing to participate must complete the form on the website and select the events they wish to attend on the first and second days of the Forum. Following registration, the organizers will select approximately 150 participants, whose list will be published five days before the Forum. The agenda of the 2025 Media Forum is published and updated on the event website, where the list of speakers and experts will be completed and other information relevant to the event will be published.
The debates at the Media Forum will focus on the main legislative priorities in the field of media in the context of European integration and the development of journalism in the era of tech giants and artificial intelligence. Similarly, over the two days, debates are planned on the coverage of elections in the context of malign external influences, obstacles to the proper functioning of the advertising market, the professional training of various categories of media institution employees, and international support for strengthening the sustainability of the press. There will also be several thematic workshops, held by experts from the country and abroad, which will present solutions for the effective promotion of journalistic products on social networks, examples of the effective use of artificial intelligence-based tools, and recommendations for the legal reporting of cases of online harassment. A special event will discuss the role of the local press in reducing the risk of misinformation and responsibly addressing community issues, while another special event will be dedicated to investigative journalism and the launch of the 2025 edition of the “Black Book of Public Money Waste in the Republic of Moldova.” Traditionally, the National Award for Journalistic Ethics and Deontology for the current year will be presented at the Media Forum, and the authors of the best investigative journalism will be awarded.
At the last session, participants will adopt the 2025 Media Forum Resolution, which will include findings on the current situation of the media in Moldova, existing problems, and the journalistic community’s requests to the authorities.
Media experts and professionals from Germany, Ukraine, and Romania have confirmed their participation in the Media Forum. Representatives of the country’s top leadership, foreign ambassadors, members of Parliament, heads of agencies, and regulatory authorities have been invited to the opening session and debates.
