The candidates were interviewed regarding the issues raised in a report by the Information and Security Service (SIS), which recommended their exclusion from the competition.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the meeting on 2 September, Andrei Zap\u0219a and Sergiu Sandulescu were given the opportunity to provide explanations regarding the issues of incompatibility raised by the SIS. The Chair of the Supervisory Board of Teleradio-Moldova, <b>Arcadie Gherasim<\/b>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europalibera.md\/a\/33846442.html\">told <\/a> Europa Liber\u0103 that, in both cases, consideration was given both to the risks raised by the SIS and to \u201cthe candidates\u2019 arguments and counter-arguments\u201d. The source states that six of the seven members of the Board voted in favour of Andrei Zap\u0219a\u2019s appointment, whilst five votes were cast in favour of Sergiu Sandulescu. \u201cSome members of the Council considered that the information (from the SIS, ed.) was not sufficiently explicit,\u201d Gherasim added, but noted that it could be important \u201cfor the Council members\u2019 subsequent decisions\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, <b>Arcadie Gherasim<\/b> told Media Azi that the interviews are scheduled for 22 September. However, the date is yet to be officially confirmed by a decision, which is due to be announced on 7 September. The interviews will be video-recorded and subsequently published on TRM\u2019s official channels.<\/p>\n<p>Four candidates are set to take part in the interview stage: Dorin Scobioal\u0103, Ecaterina Cheptanaru, Sergiu Sandulescu and Andrei Zap\u0219a.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/media-azi.md\/en\/competition-for-the-head-of-trm-postponed-iss-requests-further-checks-on-candidates\/\">The interview stage had previously been postponed<\/a> after the Information and Security Service (SIS) requested that further checks be carried out on the candidates entered in the competition. The SIS\u2019s request was made against the backdrop of intensifying hybrid threats targeting the Republic of Moldova\u2019s information space.<\/p>\n<p>The post of Director-General of TRM has been vacant since <a href=\"https:\/\/media-azi.md\/en\/vlad-turcanu-resigns-as-head-of-teleradio-moldova-following-controversy-over-the-jurys-vote-at-eurovision-2026\/\">Vlad \u021aurcanu\u2019s resignation<\/a> in May, which was announced against the backdrop of controversies surrounding the Republic of Moldova\u2019s jury vote in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Andrei Zap\u0219a and Sergiu Sandulescu have been admitted to the next stage of the competition for the post of Director-General of the public broadcaster \u201cTeleradio-Moldova\u201d (TRM).
